What MY Entertainment Does

MY Entertainment is an independent unscripted television production company based in New York, with offices in Toronto and London. Since 2000, we have developed, produced, and sold non-fiction programming to broadcasters and streaming platforms across the United States, Canada, the UK, and internationally.

For independent creators, IP holders, and talent with a concept they believe in, we are the production partner that brings three things to the table:

  • Network access. We have direct relationships with commissioning editors at every major US cable network, broadcast network, and streaming platform. Your pitch goes to a specific person who knows us — not an anonymous development inbox.
  • Production infrastructure. Our in-house team handles concept development, sizzle reel production, pitch deck creation, and full series production through delivery. You do not need to hire separate vendors; we are the vendor.
  • 25 years of pitch experience. We know what networks are buying right now, what commissioning editors respond to, and what makes a pitch package land. This institutional knowledge dramatically accelerates the pitch-to-greenlight timeline.

How We Work With Creators

Whether you come to us with a finished sizzle reel or a raw idea on a napkin, we have a pathway to get your concept in front of the right buyer.

Concept Development

We work with you to sharpen your concept into a pitch-ready format — defining the logline, format structure, episode arc, target network, and character selection before a dollar is spent on production.

Sizzle Reel Production

Our in-house production team shoots and edits sizzle reels designed for a specific buyer. Every creative choice — pacing, music, VO, character selection — is made with the target commissioning editor in mind.

Pitch Deck Creation

We build the pitch deck alongside the reel — not as a separate deliverable but as an integrated system. The deck and reel tell the same story in complementary formats for the pitch meeting.

Network Submission

We submit your package through our established relationships at the target network. You are not going into a cold inbox — you are going to a specific commissioning editor who knows and trusts us.

Co-Production Partnerships

For concepts that need a production partner from the ground up, we co-develop, co-produce, and share in the long-term rights alongside you. We are invested in the show's success across its entire lifecycle.

International Distribution

With offices in New York, Toronto, and London, we can structure international co-production deals and bring your concept to UK broadcasters and Canadian networks as well as US buyers.

Our Network Relationships

Over 25 years, MY Entertainment has built direct working relationships with commissioning editors at more than 28 US and international networks and streaming platforms. These are not cold contacts — they are buyers we have sold to, developed with, and delivered for.

This network reach is why partnering with MY Entertainment accelerates your pitch timeline. Instead of cold-submitting to a development inbox that may not be reviewed for months, your package goes directly to a commissioning editor relationship we have — typically with a specific development season or programming gap in mind.

How to Reach a Commissioning Editor

A commissioning editor is the network executive responsible for acquiring new programming. They decide which unscripted concepts move from pitch to development deal — and ultimately to greenlight. They are the gatekeepers between your idea and a broadcast slot.

The problem: commissioning editors typically do not accept submissions directly from independent creators. They accept packages from production companies with established track records at their network. A cold email or an unsolicited script that lands in a development inbox is almost never reviewed.

The solution: partner with a production company that has those relationships. When MY Entertainment submits a package to a commissioning editor, it arrives in a context of trust — the editor knows our track record, our production quality, and our ability to deliver. That context dramatically improves the odds that your concept gets a real read.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a TV production company do?

A TV production company develops, produces, and delivers television content on behalf of networks and streaming platforms. For an independent creator, a production company provides the infrastructure (crew, equipment, post-production), network access (direct relationships with commissioning editors), and experience to take a concept from idea to broadcast-ready series.

How do I approach a TV production company with my idea?

Start with a clear, one-page concept document: logline, format description, target audience, and why this show is relevant now. If you have a sizzle reel, attach it. Contact MY Entertainment through our pitch submission page — we review every concept that comes in and respond to those that fit our current development slate.

What is a commissioning editor and how do I reach one?

A commissioning editor is the network executive responsible for acquiring new programming. They typically only accept submissions through established production companies — cold submissions from unknown producers are rarely reviewed. The fastest path to a commissioning editor is through a production company like MY Entertainment that has existing relationships at your target network.

Do you take pitches from independent creators?

Yes. MY Entertainment actively looks for strong unscripted concepts from independent creators, IP holders, and talent. We evaluate each pitch on its merit — the strength of the concept, the characters, and the network fit. You do not need representation or a prior track record to pitch to us.

What percentage does a production company take?

Production company arrangements vary widely depending on the deal structure. MY Entertainment works under co-production and option agreements that are negotiated case by case. We are transparent about deal terms and will always explain the structure before any agreement is signed. Contact us directly to discuss what a partnership would look like for your specific concept.
